Possible Endometrial Cancer after Breast Cancer Tamoxifen Treatment

Posted by bauer4 @bauer4, Jun 4 6:33pm

Underwent an endometrial biopsy yesterday after months of abnormal bleeding with labs showing post menopausal. The waiting is the worst, but unlike when I was caught off guard with breast cancer, I want to have my research done and ready for a plan of action if my results do come back positive.
Are the others with EC after Tamoxifen use around. I completed it approximately June 2022.

New to this group. Can I ask what EC stands for? Five years ago I had a mastectomy and was put on Tamoxifen. I had all kinds of problems with it, ending with blood clots in my leg and both lungs. I could not continue the treatment for the required five years. Tried several other drugs that are in the same family but couldn't handle any of them. Thank the Good Lord, I am still here.

@joyceinil I think EC is the acronym for Endometrial Cancer.

@bauer4 Here is what I do know about endometrial cancer because that's what I was diagnosed with in 2019. My endometrial cancer was estrogen positive. I did not have breast cancer and I have not been prescribed Tamoxifen.

Waiting is so difficult. Have you received your results yet from your biopsy?

I did get good news that it was non cancerous!!! I do however need to go ahead with the total hysterectomy due to the fibroids and hyperplasia noted with some endometrial cells on last Pap. This is to keep from possible future positive results and I am, according to my labs, in menopause, therefore the bleeding is abnormal and would require every 3 month checks (no thanks). LOL

@bauer4 Congratulations! This is very good news. Yes, the hysterectomy is reasonable under those circumstances and it's great that this will allow you to avoid more worries and exams.
