My 55 yr old husband went through An Alogenic bone marrow transplant on Dec 2024
In March of 2025 , he wanted to come back home to California central coast ,
He passed in October 2025
He always lived a clean lifestyle , was diagnosed with pneumonia on the beginning of Sept 2025 in the Santa Barbara cottage hospital
He died there in the beginning of October 2025of a lung complication because of the bone marrow transplant .
All the people that will have a transplant or thinking about it .
Your life depends on how you take care after the transplant , and if you are close to the transplanting team . Since many serious issues will spring after the transplant , possibly / most likely causing the patient to undergo another organ transplant .

I am sorry to hear that your husband passed. My sister passed on May 31st as she heard remission for ovarian cancer and thought the clean healthy lifestyle would help. There is no choice with those we love to do it their way.
At City of Hope in Duarte, they require 2 years of follow ups. I feel for you if he did not find a like hospital where you moved to in California. Pneumonia was my sisters cause of death. She did not stay close and i did. So far i have had no problems with my allogenic donors' cells.
Thank you for brining your story here. There is no doubt that your husband is not the only one to make this choice. Did the hospital he leave keep in touch with him?
