Plantar Fasciitis: How did you get rid of it?

Posted by peggyn @peggyn, Jun 22, 2019

I don't know if this is where this should be posted, but I have a few questions. Almost seems like it goes hand and hand with neuropathy.

Have you had it and how did you get rid of it. I have done 2 injections.. I use ice and ice bottle almost nightly, I've massaged, I've purchased special shoes, and I've worn compression sleeves, plus I've done the night splint.. It just won't go away. I know it's because of the atrophy on that calf.
If you've had it please share what worked for you to get rid of it.

My husband, 72, and myself, 71, both had planter a while back. We iced the foot, got good arch supports from Amazon, $40 and got off the foot. Took many weeks but right now we are fine. One other thing, I wear Drew sneakers. They are deep and allow for inserts...good luck !

Glad you didn’t have to have surgery. I wear Oofos now. Have 5 pairs.

My foot Doctor gave me an injection in the heel, which was taking too long
to work, sssooo, I checked on the internet about it and found you tube
with videos showing how and what kind of exercise to do. I am glad to say
I started using those and the pain went away. Now if I even THINK it is
coming back, I stand on my toes ( check the videos) and am not bothered with it anymore. It seems the doctors are trained for pills and injections only.
NOT al Docs but majority.

I iced the foot and did the rolling exercises. Kept off my feet when possible. No problems anymore.

For years it was painful for me to walk any distance, shopping was hard. I had custom made orthotics and went through the usual foot doctor treatments which helped BUT WHAT KEPT IT FROM COMING BACK???? The right shoe!!!!! Apart from running tennis shoes with lots of cushion I found sandals with thick bottoms and 3 adjustable straps that hold my foot in place. I wear them even in the winter with socks sometimes if I want to walk at the mall. The problem was my foot was always sliding around before. I am now ten years without foot pain.
Also I notice that the shoes being sold today are quite solid - people got smart????

I also went to an acupuncture. I had shots in the foot until the shots no longer worked, I tried therapy, in the end it was the surgery. The surgery gave me relief. I would vote for the surgery. However it should be used after you have tried other options.

I wear Birkenstock Sandler around the house. They keep me out of pain. I can’t walk outside in them though.

Good shoes make such I big difference for plantar fasciitis! I switched to wearing OrthoFeet shoes when I struggled with PF and now only wear that brand. My daughter inherited all my old shoes and was very grateful. I’m now able to walk 4 miles each day with no problem. The initial recovery was very long though, but I haven’t had any flare ups since last year!

I have Ecco sandals which hold my feet well. I have narrow feet so I have to find the right shoe for that. Most brands are too wide for me. I also have at home slippers with support.

I do the same, Birkenstock sandals inside, Drew sneakers ( with arch supports) & Trotentop clogs outside. So far it hasn't come back 2 yrs now...good luck !

I had a failed capsalitis surgery. He shortened my second toe too much! So much pain and nerve issues. Anybody try custom molded shoes? Two dislocations on my left foot. I'm afraid of another failed surgery. Maria.
