Pituitary Macroadonema Surgery Scheduled
My brother is scheduled for surgery to remove a pituitary macroadenoma tumor. Please pray for us and share your recovery experiences if you have had the same surgery.

I've had both transphenoidal (through the nasal cavity) and cranial surgery at UW in Seattle. Brain surgery is a scary proposition either way, but recovery in both cases was easier than I expected. My cranial surgery was in September of this year, and the one thing that lingers is double vision in one eye, although apparently that's not unusual and takes 3-6 months to clear up. I hope your brother's surgery goes smoothly and his recovery is an easy one.
@blisterina Thank you so much. My brother is undergoing the transsphenoidal (through the nasal cavity) procedure. He is scared, and I hate seeing him like this, but I believe he will benefit from the surgery. His pituitary tumor was not detected early, and subsequently, he lost vision in his left eye. Thank you
I, too, lost vision in one eye (the same eye with double vision now) prior to the transphenoidal surgery, and returned to about 80% after that surgery. Hopefully your brother will have a similar experience.
I will keep you updated after the surgery. Thank you
Thanks for the update and I'm glad that your brother's surgery is scheduled. As you and he prepare for surgery, you may appreciate reading the experiences of @mkedave @stkarlen @kc2 @jill2021 @trishbindy22 and others in this related discussion:

When is his surgery? Will you be at the hospital with him on the day of surgery?
@colleenyoung, thank you. His surgery is on December 3ist, and I plan to be in the hospital with him
Prayers for your brothers healing and for peace yo surround you. I too am potentially facing surgery, but have faith and confidence in the staff at Mayo.
@ksavage48, thank you. I will keep you posed
In my prayers. I had the same procedure done about 2 1/2 years ago. Procedure went well. Now on Testosterone injections, thyroid medications and a few more. Hormonal issues popped up and more medications. I hope he does not get prescribed all the medications that I am on. Life is good though. The procedure in my case was successful and non eventful.
I had pituitary tumor removed 13 12 24. Surgery went well. Only in hospital 3 days. However various hormonal levels went wrong and was back in hospital after four days at home. Everything was sorted. Just something to remember, in my estimation recovery time is much much longer you will read about. Good luck with your surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers
