My brother is scheduled for surgery to remove a pituitary macroadenoma tumor. Please pray for us and share your recovery experiences if you have had the same surgery.

I had pituitary tumor removed 13 12 24. Surgery went well. Only in hospital 3 days. However various hormonal levels went wrong and was back in hospital after four days at home. Everything was sorted. Just something to remember, in my estimation recovery time is much much longer you will read about. Good luck with your surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers

Thanks for the information, my consult is on the 01.08.24, this provides an extra concern since I live in the east.

In my prayers. I had the same procedure done about 2 1/2 years ago. Procedure went well. Now on Testosterone injections, thyroid medications and a few more. Hormonal issues popped up and more medications. I hope he does not get prescribed all the medications that I am on. Life is good though. The procedure in my case was successful and non eventful.

Thank you! We are getting ready for the surgery on Tuesday. My brother is staying strong, while I am very nervous and scared.

I fully understand your feelings. No one can tell you to relax….it is our journey. All should go well for him. It is amazing to see how the hormones get back to regular levels. I hope that he does not have the prescription regiment that I currently have. He will feel much better regardless. From what I gather with this condition and what we might be experiencing we should have had vision issues, head aches and mood issues. I did not have the vision issues or head aches but PROBABLY did experience mood issues but protracted over 10 years (how long they think I had mine) you become accustomed to whatever changes we experience. Very scary procedure. He will be fine and be back to normal what ever that is for us🤪 after his procedure. Already in my prayers🙏.

@guidanceplease, thank you so much for your comforting words. He has been on hormone replacement, including hydrocortisone and thyroid. Doctors said the size of the tumor indicated he had had this at least for ten or more years. I am glad we were finally able to have the proper diagnosis. He was slowly dying

Yes. Sounds like my experience to the word(time and size of tumor). I know he will be fine today. He will come out of the surgery a new man. He is taking all the same prescriptions that I am. Must be a common recourse. Not sure how long he/me will be on these prescriptions. I started with the testosterone gel and went to twice a week injections. In my case they were monitoring all my levels before and after the procedure. A big change for the good. He is starting of the new year as a new person. So happy for the both of you. In my prayers for a uneventful recovery that brings him a bright and healthy future

Thank you all for your support. The surgery went well, and we are on our way home. He is experiencing a lot of headaches, and I hope that will improve soon. This morning's blood test showed a low cortisol level, but we will give it some time. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

I am glad that the surgery went well. Now that the diagnosis and surgery are behind you and your brother I hope and pray that his recovery is uneventful and quick. Looking forward will be gratifying as you both watch his levels get back to normal. If he had any symptoms prior to the surgery they will be behind him and he will be back to where he was prior to the Pituitary Tumor. Way to welcome in the New Year. Very happy for the both of you.

@guidanceplease Thank you. Are the headaches usual after the surgery? he complaining a lit about headaches

Good morning. I never experienced any headaches. I would imagine that they could be as he/we had a mass removed from our head. I am not a doctor. If he is in pain I would call the doctor and inquire. Our masses were the same size and I believe he had the nasal approach as I did. All I know is the Endocrinologist briefed me after the procedure about symptoms and I did not experience any before or after. My burden was hormone levels that were way out of wack. Headaches and eye aches were common symptoms prior to the procedure but afterwards I am not sure. I would inquire if he is in pain and if he never experienced headaches prior to the procedure. In my thoughts and prayers.
