Phonak PartnerMic

Do any of you use the Phonac PartnerMic to be able to hear your spouse more clearly? Hubby and I are going to get one programmed next week in hopes that it will allow him to hear me more clearly with his hearing aids when he is watching TV across the room and I want to ask him something (usually related to my preparing his dinner).
He currently has the TV sound programmed into his left ear, and is supposed to be able to hear me in his right ear, but it doesn't work if I'm a little too far away.

Would be interested in your reaction to this device after you try it. My problem also when I am tuned into tv I cannot understand if someone tries to speak with me.

Yes, I recently bought one for travel so I could hear the guides on walking tours. It's the first hearing device I've had that was worth the money. You have to be a certain distance away from the person wearing it. When I tried it in the audiology office, I couldn't get it to work until I went into the adjacent hallway. So work with it. I've used it at family events, and it has picked up voices from across the room. It does not work with grandchildren running around playing! Buy it!

I don't have this particular device due to my personal technology brands. I do have a hand held/external microphone that I use in many settings; especially when there is background noise. I have the Cochlear/ReSound mini mic.

I think these add on devices are very helpful. Years ago when Phonak came out with the first Roger device I got one and used it with both my hearing aid and my CI processor. It was being tested and I was a test subject. It had some faults, but they were on the right track in product development.

Assistive technology that works with our personal technology (hearing aids and cochlear implant processors) can be life changing. I'm glad you're looking into this, and hope you'll share your experience with how it works.

Your audiologist can show you how to adjust the Roger so you can hear the tv as well as a conversation

I will definitely share, Julie.
So glad you had a good experience. It’s great to know that other brands also can benefit from microphones.

Have you tried the Partner mic setup with the tv yet? I’m not sure that the Partner Mic works if his TV sound is programmed into his left ear. Does he use the Phonak TV Link for that?
I have a Roger On v2 and I can change the setting in the App to pick up the surroundings or the tv. I don’t know if the TV link or the Partner mic connects to the app but I’m curious to know how it’s working for you.

Sorry to hear about your having a stroke. Wishing you the best in acute rehab.

The only way to test these devices is to use them in all situations where you need the kind of support they provide. With hearing aids and assistive listening device products you should have a trial period for testing. If they don't work as well as hoped you can return them. The key is to do that testing. Happy to know your son is helping your husband. Do get well yourself!
