Phantom Pain In Ovary Removal

Posted by girlwithbigfeet @girlwithbigfeet, Feb 9, 2023

I really just need help. I’ve talked to my gyno. About 2 years now I grew a 26cm cyst on my right ovary, after getting it removed it is continuously in pain. When I start my period, when I have sex. My gyno keeps telling me to take ibuprofen because she’s never heard of this and I don’t know what to do. Any recommendations?

Wow! What a poor outcome. Sorry to hear it.

Get a new gyn. Her response to your problem is inadequate and uncaring. If she doesn't know about it, then she should point you to a doctor who does or to one who can find out.

Have you spoken with your primary care doctor?
Called the surgeon?

Have you had any follow-up scans? Could something else be happening?
Do you have an "adhesion"? I've heard that there is some special kind of physical therapy that can loosen adhesions. I haven't tried it myself.

If you feel funny talking with the doctors, remember this. You/your insurance pays them a lot of money to take care of you. If you bought a car and it broke down, then you would complain, right? Your body has broken down after the surgery and some doctor should take responsibility for taking care of you.

Trust your body. Be insistent. Be "pushy" if you have to. Take your husband(?) with you to the appointments. It is amazing how responsive doctors will be when you have somebody else there to say that, yes, this really is a problem and it's affecting your lives a lot.

Good luck. Be strong. Don't let the doctors off the hook. You shouldn't have to suffer from a surgery.
