Phage therapy update

UCSD is doing the most work and research on phages.
Here is a very informative interview with their top phage doctor (Dr. Saima Alma) and the results they are seeing. They are using IV, nebulizing, and oral phage therapy. Takes a while to get in as a patient — hoops to jump through.

Hi I have been trying to get an appointment with them to begin treatment. Have you had any luck going this?

For those following the phage trials, there’s a new exciting one
now at sixteen different hospital locations for CF patients w pseudomonas. Hopefully if it’s successful they will start trials for non CF with NTM infections.

Hi Cate, Thank you for following this topic & providing an update. I asked to have it moved to the discussion already underway, because it is a good update on your previous post.

Like you, I cannot wait until the study expands to those who have Bronchiectasis. I am watching closely for the news...

Thank you for this wonderful update! I’ve been following phage therapy for years and I’m happy to see that the US is finally getting on board! I know a young Canadian man who purchased his phage from a Eastern European country several years ago. Now there are more options for those of us who want to pursue phage therapy treatment!

Do you know what Eastern European country he got his phage match from? I’ve read the country of Georgia and Poland are doing extensive phage trials and have even been able to nebulize the phages which is quite complex procedure. But I can’t find significant evidence if this is true.
