PFO/ASD closure procedure
Has anyone had this procedure using the
Amplatzer™ Talisman™ PFO Occluder? I’m going in on May 8 to Stanford for mine, with a lot of hope. I haven’t had a stroke yet and am doing everything I can to prevent one. Please tell me your results if you’ve had it done.

Hi
I’m scheduled this summer for closure for my PFO condition.
Mine is different than yours, my non oxygenated blood is mixing with my oxygenated causing me to have severe hypoxia. I’ve been on oxygen for 1 1/2 looking for the cause.
Have you now had the procedure? How did it turn out for you?
Yes, I had the procedure May 2024. The procedure went very well and recovery was easy. I did however end up going into Afib a couple of months afterwards. Ended up in the ER where I had a cardioversion that zapped me right back into rhythm. None of my docs could figure out why. One did say it might have just been my body rejecting the new device in my heart. I’ve had No problems since.
I wish you good luck and I hope you have improvements with your oxygen.
Thx for your response.
I did notice in the literature on the procedure that Afib is a known possible side effect.
Glad it did not recur.
Did your cardiologist require and retesting before your procedure. Mine is requiring a transesophicus Ecco., TEE
I’m just awaiting insurance approval
Jeff
I didn’t have a TEE for myself. I’ve had several echocardiograms before and after.
I did have a TEE however when I went to the ER for my AFib. Be prepared for a sore throat. The numbing stuff isn’t very good. At least not for mine.
Good luck to you! I’m sure it will all go well. Where are you having it done?
Thx
I’m in Daytona Beach
Jeff
