Period watery, light and bright?

Posted by amayali @amayali, Nov 21, 2023

I‘m starting to get really worried...

I'm 21, took the pill for only a cycle in June, but stopped taking it after 3 weeks. Because I couldn't tolerate it. In addition, due to a mistake, I had to take the morning-after pill as well in June. I had pain during sex at that time, and saw some blood after it (but I just got on the pill at that time… I don’t know if it’s bad as well?) Of course, this can mess up the body.
Before June everything was perfectly normal.

But!! For over 4 months now, my period has been very bright, thin and watery. In general, it seems much lighter and like less to me. From the 3rd day on my menstrual cup basically doesn’t fill at all.
Still, I wanted to mention I've also had a lot of stress over the last few months.

I've never had an examination at the gynecologist, I honestly don't want to go there yet... I've had traumatic experiences and don't want to undergo vaginal examinations at the moment.
Can blood tests or abdominal ultrasounds be conclusive?

Has anyone had similar experiences and can reassure me?

Thank you!!!

Oh by the way, I'm not pregnant, I took 4 pregnancy tests.

I am 21 years old. First, I have to say that I have been having quite a lot of stress for the last 5 months. I also started taking the pill in June for only three weeks, but wasn’t feeling well on it. So I stopped taking it after about a month. And I took the pill after once due to an „accident“ It all happened in June.

That's where it started.

I‘ve been getting much lighter, watery, brighter periods for 4 months. This worries me the most, as the Internet says ovarian cancer might be the cause of a watery period.

Had pain a few times during sex, then there was blood on the sheet (not the 1 time sex) But it happened when I just started taking the pill, didn’t have sex ever since

Need to pee a bit more often, but usually only when I think about it. not only the urge to urinate, I CAN actually pee a lot every time (sorry)

Had a recurring pinching pain in the lower left abdomen (mostly when I was stressed, but I'm not quite sure)

Then, switched between diarrhea and mild constipation and mucus in the stool

Sometimes had the feeling that I couldn't completely empty the bowels, so had to go a bit more often

I'm generally a little depressed at the moment and feel down

And quite tired

Have already taken a stool and blood sample at the doc, no results yet

But now, thanks to the Internet, I'm afraid that it could be due to ovarian cancer

Please help me
I’ve had traumatic experiences and I’m freaking out just thinking about going to an obgyn und undergoing a vaginal exam

Everyone is different. I had no symptoms until I was in Stage 2. Ovarian cancer never entered my mind. Then after a CT scan, I got the news.
Symptoms can be misleading. Wait for results of tests, even though it’s
hard and nerve-racking, and don’t rely on dr. Google for answers. It could be many things, a lot less serious. Good luck.

I agree with @bendeb, everyone’s body is different and you may have symptoms one illness and it might be another. Even if you’re scared of going to the gyn, it’s important to rule out anything scary.

Could be a lot of things and you’re young. Always imagined the worst myself, try to be positive, the body is so complex. May be something very simple, example thyroid disfunction, hormonal changes, stress, and the blood changes every 7 years, so hang in there. But it’s good to stay vigilant, Big hugs 🤗 stay in touch, you’ve got friends 😉

@amayali You are 21-years-old so I think the likelihood that you are experiencing something else, not ovarian cancer, is good. I understand the frightening prospect of going to a gynecologist given what you described. Your tendency, like most of us, is to avoid what is frightening. In this case, you are worried enough that going to the gynecologist and getting some answers will be short. Please tell yourself that worrying about ovarian cancer doesn’t give you the answers you want.

What do you do for yourself when you worry and are frightened? Go for a walk? Go to the gym? Talk with a friend?
