Thanks for information. The Lyrica dulls the numbness but that is about all. Tried Gabapentin with no luck.

I take gabapentin twice a day without much relief but last year we added duloxetine (Cymbalta) once a day and it helps a lot. I know if I forget to take it. My dentist told me it helps him and that’s how I heard about it.

I’ve been thinking that myself and thought I would wait til I meet with my doctor. But the less pills, the better.

I read about possible bad reactions if you stop Gabapentin cold turkey. It depends on how high a dosage you’re on. I’m on a low dose so I presume ok for me. But I’m still going to do it slowly and check with my doctor.

Hi Bonnie. Why do u want to stop the gabapentin? I started on Cymbalta many years ago…that stopped the sharp pain in my feet. It was slowly increased to three 30 mg caps a day as the pain let returning. I recently started gabapentin which helped for awhile but new symptoms are appearing…numbish feet and fingers with pain. Increased the Gab. Does help .🤷🏼‍♀️

I was on 300 mg of gaba daily for a month, got negative reaction to it and my doc did take me off by tapering it off over about 8 days or so. As always, get that medical advice each person's medical issues will differ.

I started with Duloxetine by itself and had to add Gabapentin as my feet would not settle down at night.

Hi @poodlemom6, Welcome to Connect. Thanks for sharing your experience with Duloxetine. Do you mind sharing a little more about your diagnosis and any other treatments you've tried?

I’ve been on 200 mg for over a year. I had tried lyrica with another doctor and it gave me an “out of body experience” which did not occur with Gabapentin yet they are supposed to be the same medication.

Hi, Patti! I felt that not much was helping with the gabapentin. But I’m experimenting a bit. I tried taking one gabapentin together with my duloxetine in the morning which seemed to get me nicely through the day. I did not take my second gabapentin last night. I may continue on this road for a bit. Thank you.
