Pending diagnosis of chondrosarcoma for 28 year old son
I am devastated and having trouble focusing. My son, who is type 1 diabetic, bipolar I, just got a CT scan and met with an Oncologist that told him that they are confident a tumor (size of a softball) from multiple hereditary exostoses is malignant and in an awkward location. He is going to lose mobility in his dominant shoulder, and I am terrified of losing him to cancer. I found this out on a Thursday afternoon at work. He has had the shoulder pain for over two years he thought it was from an injury from rocking climbing. Over the years I dealt with a serious manic episode that lasted 8 months which was very damaging and now this news about his health. He is getting surgery on 4/27. Has not had the biopsy yet. And supposedly the cancer has not spread to his lungs.

I'm so sorry your family is going through all of this. Being a caregiver can be a very heavy load to carry. I hope you have some good support for yourself. I'm praying all goes well for both you and your son.
@caringmom7, your fear is normal. It is so scary to learn that your young adult son may have cancer. I'm tagging fellow members like @elmarie @louwla who know what it is like to be the parent of someone with a diagnosis of chondrosarcoma and who can walk this scary time of diagnostic testing with you.
@caringmom7, when will the biopsy be done? How are you holding up today?
