For what type of pain? I can answer this from a veterinary standpoint since I’m a DVM and the training is similar. We don’t receive formal training on supplement use since there isn’t a lot of clinical evidence to support efficacy for many supplements. Some of my colleagues recommend supplements based on anecdotal evidence. Being a chronic pain sufferer myself and having tried many supplements out of desperation, I am skeptical with a lot of them since nothing I have personally tried has worked.

The full article is on the latest edition of Pain News Network which I received a couple of days ago.
I don't believe a specific type of pain was mentioned, only "chronic pain". I believe we may have a difference of opinion regarding physicians, supplements, etc. That is for another day....

@shoegal It does not work instantly; it usually takes two to four weeks (and up to two months) of daily use to feel a real difference.

@shoegal I am a doctor so my opinion is backed by my own training and scientific research. Regardless I hope it helps you. Living in pain is life altering and I’m honestly sick of the lack of care and concern from my own medical team.

@mikeb39a what about interaction with prescription drugs? Most physicians are not open to supplement ts so if you have a question about a drug interaction you don’t get much help.

I tried PEA , a supplement and it really relieved some of my chronic pain. It’s worth a try!! I’ve had chronic pain for 33 years!

@susanblan I would love to try this PEA but am afraid of it’s possible interactions with prescription drugs. Medical doctors can’t or won’t advise taking supplements ts with prescription medications.

@shoegal could you please give me the link to the edition of Pain News Network you are referring to here? I desperately need some pain relief that will not interact with my other prescription medications!
