Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA): Anyone had success?

Posted by wisfloj @wisfloj, Jan 26, 2020

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) user for at least 6 months. Seemed to work after several weeks, then not, then somewhat, now not at all and the burning pain is spreading to most of my body. Anybody find success? Is this how it works for you as well? Just hate to throw away money and continue unnecessary/ ineffective supplements. I use the Ergomax brand.
Thank you fellow sufferers! Appreciate this forum and people willing to share, advise and encourage!

I take 250 mg. magnesium 2xday which has greatly reduced my nightly leg and foot cramps, I also do calf stretches before retiring. Hope this helps. Helen

Wow! I never even considered that the horrible burning in my legs could be influenced by what I eat. I always feel confused when the burning is bad one night, but I have no burning other nights. I need to keep a journal that contains what I ate that day. Tomato meat sauce gives me diarrhea, so I try to avoid that, but I do love nightshade vegetables. Hmmmm. Thanks for your post.

@darlingtondoll I have fibromyalgia symptoms and neuropathy and cant do night shade vegetable at all No tomato sauces and If I want the tomato flavor I have to dilute it with water to make it less acidic . The peppers I can only eat are the yellow, orange or red. they don't seem to bother me like the green ones. You just have to journal for yourselve and see what harms you . Good luck

I am curious, have you tried an antacid before you eat tomato sauced pasta? I wonder if it would help you.

Thanks. I plan to start today. I have some leftover chicken Parmesan that I had yesterday at a restaurant with some spaghetti. I will scrape off the tomato sauce and cheese and rinse off the spaghetti. It gave me diarrhea anyway. My intestines are partially paralyzed and most restaurant foods don’t agree with me. Tomato sauce and cheese are indigestible. I need the chicken for the protein, so I will be very careful today. I haven’t had pizza in seven years. I really miss it when my husband orders one with everything on it.

Hi, @maryv449 - wondering to whom you were suggesting to block him or her? If you add the username (@___) to your post, that Connect member will be notified you responded to them and will be likely to get back to you.

@catro - the topic you brought up about food/what you eat and neuropathy is a good one. It would merit its own discussion, if you'd be willing to start one in the Neuropathy group https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/neuropathy/. You'd want to click on the gray button that says "Start a discussion" on the lefthand side, a bit down from the top.
