Parkinsons symptoms vs BPP Vertigo

Posted by janna2 @janna2, 3 days ago

Well now, this morning I just had an occurrence of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) as in EVERYTHING was spinning when I moved my head, since my PD diagnosis. It has been awhile (maybe 5-10 years?) so I had forgotten about it and immediately stressed that it was going to be a new PD challenge. Eventually I was able to get ahold of my phone and while looking vertigo up realized it might be the BPPV! Yeah, I know, my brain doesn’t work the way it used to. 🤣😂 While it took me a couple of tries each direction the Epley move did work. My point of this ramble is don’t always assume something is because of the PD.

I've had incapacitating vertigo several times over the past 6 years. Also diagnosed as BPV and with some improvement using head/neck positioning maneuvers. No recent episodes since I was diagnosed with neurodegenerative disease - don't think they are related. Mild imbalance noted, but the room not "spin̈ning" like with vertigo
