Parkinson's and Handwriting

Hello @chrisj2491 @caryp43 @denie57 @johnjames @trouble4343 @tntredhead @aperob @hdruss @retairforceman @macbeth. I just read a post from one of our members regarding handwriting problems with Parkinson's (thanks @johnjames) and it made me wonder how many other people have problems with writing and other activities of daily living (ADL) . If you have had some therapies or other things you have leaned in dealing with some of these problems of daily living, we would like to hear from you. I found this website that addresses handwriting specifically. I have not yet tried the exercise mentioned but feel free to take a look at it and let us know what you think. http://parkinsonshumor.blogspot.com/2012/06/abcs-of-parkinsons-disease-handwriting.html
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi, @hopeful33250 - I'm sorry that somehow this post was missed when you originally wrote it, but a discussion of handwriting and Parkinson's is valuable, as many people need their writing off and on all day - scribbling notes for work, writing a note to a loved one and leaving it on the counter, penning a thank you note after a birthday, writing a Valentine, or leaving a note for your children asking them to empty the dishwasher when they come home while you finish the grocery shopping.

@johnjames - have you had any trouble with your Parksinson's and handwriting? @hopeful33250 - how about you? @ggopher - have you noticed any challenges with your handwriting?

Tiny writing - actually printing- was a problem for a couple years before diagnosis. Now my printing is relatively good as long as I’m not overdue on my Sinemet. Unfortunately I still cannot touch type and it takes awhile to do everything one fingered as I sometimes take 3-4 tries to hit the right key on these little screens.

Hello @ggopher, @leftylucy, @susan62, @psvantx, @oronogo, @januaryjane, @jdb, @sadiecora, @mariemarie

Here are some hand exercises that have really helped my writing and other fine motor activities. What hand activities do you have the most difficulty with?

@jonathanfesik I agree that texting is difficult. I always use a stylus. It gives me more control when texting. Have you used one, @jonathanfesik?
