Off Paxil about 8 Months, Having Panic Attacks Again
I haven't had a panic attack in about 7 years. I've been off Paxil for about 8 months and now I'm starting to have panic attacks again. It's scary. Since I don't have medical insurance, it's not so easy to get the Paxil...I'll try the "home remedies" like meditation.

so far, so good. lots of prayer, more excercising, and better eating and i'm doing ok with only minor anxiety symptoms.
Update?
How long were you on Paxil?
Did it help?
Why did you go off?
How long before you started again?
Did it work again?
I’m wondering if it would work again after 25 years.
Restart Paxil?
Anyone try it again after stopping for 8 months?
I was on for 25 years with a great life, no side effects.
Anxiety crept in strong one year ago and psych had me taper off one year ago.
It was too rapid and horrible.
Am now 8 months off and in a very bad way mentally. Remeron, cymbalta and Effexor have been recommended. They all sound so scary.
Why didn’t the psych just add on something instead of taking me off!! 😞 we added Wellbutrin earlier but did not help. Am weaning off it now.
Would it work again?
My cognition and memory have declined and I do believe it’s from Paxil…but I’m not functioning.
How are you now...I've been on about 20 mg for 15 years.. Want to taper off and go on something else
Cat, why do want to switch to another medication? I took it years ago in the late 1980’s after injuring my back requiring surgery. I had been a floor nurse and my career went away after the injury. I worked very well for me when I needed it. Is it no longer providing you with the desired results? Have you discussed this with your therapist?
I'm 79 and was on Paxil in the early 90's, went off it with success because of "energy" therapy and then, after a year, went on Effexor because of a major panic attack. I kept trying to change to other SSRI's because I had no sex life, but they all have this side effect on me and I always go back to Effexor as it works best on anxiety for me, which is my major issue. At my age I no longer care about no sex life and my partner doesn't care either. We all respond differently to various anti-depressants.
