Pain and bending knee

Posted by fran102 @fran102, Jan 8, 2023

Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since TKR and I am still having pain and trouble bending my right knee. I finally am close to 90 but I feel like I should be further along. I can’t sit bending it for more than 10 minutes. I go to PT three times a week and do my exercises plus ice and elevate. I thought this surgery would be easier and I feel very discouraged. Is this normal?

Yes I have started wearing a compression bandage and it helps with the Baker’s Cysr. I am still thinking of asking the doctor to drain the cyst.
I had surgery 16 weeks ago and discouraged that thi cyst impedes on my walking. I can do everything I did before (aquafit, cycling and muscle conditioner) but what I had really hoped for was pain free walking and that hasn’t happened

I am at 13 weeks and had PT for 3 months. If I do too much I get that Baker's cyst as well and wear my compression sleeve for a day. It then goes away an no issues. I was told I could wear it as long as I can bend my knee and it doesn't inhibit motion. I want to do Aquafit again but was told they really do not want me jumping at all (jumping jacks, running in place etc.) even in the water. So I'm cycling and doing some other things. I think it will eventually get better. I guess we just have to keep doing what we are doing.

Glad to hear the compression bandaging works. Btw I do my aquafit classes in the deep end of the pool so there is no impact or contact with the floor of the pool
It is a great workout and really helps with leg strengthening and circulation
