Ovary pain w endometrial carcinoma
Post menopausal, 68 yo. I was dx'd with endometrial carcinoma grade 2, 3 weeks ago. I'm having hysterectomy tomorrow.
Along with the pain from the hysteroscopy I'm having increased pain around left ovary area. I've had a cyst on my left ovary for years. Just over the last week this left side pain has increased to nearly unbearable. If I weren't having it all removed tomorrow I would go to the ER.
Since my fibroids started bleeding in April '26, Interstitial cystitis pain and nocturia has been awful. My pelvic floor must be just a mess as all things seem to be very angry in there. Lots of pain in my abdomen right now.
As our thoughts sometimes do, my head keeps going to the possibility of ovarian cancer. I'm concerned that this pain is due to my cystic ovary turned cancer.
Do these cysts turn to some type of cancer? Is my head just going places because of my diagnosis? Should I be concerned?

@justmelaura As I write this I think you might be surgery today for a hysterectomy. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer (endometriod adenocarcinoma, FIGO Grade 1, Stage 1a) in 2019. My surgeon explained that she would remove my uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and cervix. I was 69-years-old at the time. I’m sharing this because I’m thinking that your surgeon will remove your ovaries and fallopian tubes in addition to the uterus. All of the tissue removed will be sent to pathology where it will be examined. With this, I’m hopeful for you that the ovaries and the cysts, once examined, show no signs of cancer. I’m also hopeful that the pain you’ve been experiencing will be gone as you recover from surgery.

From my reading on Mayo Clinic and others I’ve deduced that ovarian cysts can be cancerous after menopause but this is very uncommon.
