I take 240mg at bedtime (if I’m wired I take 2!). It brings on sleep most evenings.

2 ReactionsHas anyone taken the AlgaeCal?
I take 2 capsules, 170mg each, for a total of 340 mg per day. I used to take one capsule in the morning, and one at night before sleep, but when we switched to DST, I started taking one at dinnertime, then one an hour before I go to bed. I find the first dose really relaxes me.
I also take 200 mg L-theanine with the second magnesium capsule.
For me, taking all 340 mg at once leaves me super groggy the next day.
I also started spritzing magnesium spray on the soles of my feet once I’m in bed. I made it myself by dissolving epsom salts in warm water and adding a few drops of lavender to a small spray bottle.
Seems to work for me.

2 ReactionsI take 300mg of magnesium glycinate about an hour before bed because it's supposed to relax the nervous system and muscles, to help with sleep. I also take a lot of other supplements, which I've posted about several times. If you are interested, let me know and I'll repost my supplement list here.

3 Reactions@bvernail I take ALGAECAL Collagen Peptides Powder – Multi Collagen Peptides with VERISOL®, FORTIGEL®, UC-II®, FORTIBONE. I found it to be the cheapest collagen powder with Fortibone, which has been found in studies to help with osteoporosis. It's cheapest if you buy two at a time on auto-ship.

Would like to see your list of supplements
I've been studying this. I am not a doctor, but what I've read is that woman my age (75) should take 320 mg. of magnesium glycinate. I take 240 mg daily and get the rest from food. When advice is to take 320 mg daily, they mean 320 in a combination of food and supplement. I eat plenty of foods with magnesium so it is easy for me to get the extra 80 mg from food. I eat oatmeal and that's about 40 grams of magnesium in 1/2 cup dry oats. Add one ounce of pecans and I've got 34 mg, so I'm up to 74 mg. Pretty close.
I split the magnesium - take 120 mg in the morning and 120 mg in the evening to ward off Diarrhea. Pure Encapsulations brand of Magnesium Glycinate comes in 120 mg each capsule.

Vitamin K: This helps direct calcium to your bones. I take two forms of Vitamin K in high doses: 180mcg of vitamin K2 MK-7 (Menaquinone-7) TrueVantage brand and
45,000 mcg (45 mg) of vitamin K2 MK-4 (Menaquinone-4) Life Extension K2 High Potency brand. These high doses are discussed more in a topic in this support group titled: Vitamin K: High Doses of MK-4 and MK-7 Show Promising Results
Collagen as Fortibone: I take a daily powdered collagen supplement that contains Fortibone, which has been shown in studies to help bones. The cheapest brand I found on Amazon is AlgaeCal brand. It's cheaper if you buy two or three at a time. I make a smoothie with it along with some juice, banana, and other fruit. It also contains 11 grams of protein per serving.
Protein powder: Protein is important for your bones so you might want to consider a supplement if your diet doesn't contain enough. I’ve tried Oath Nutrition Clear Whey Isolate Protein Powder. Their Frosty Lemonade is my favorite flavor. Mixed with water it takes like foamy lemonade. I recently purchased Orgain Organic Vegan Protein Powder, Strawberries & Cream, which I haven’t tried yet.
Prunes: Studies have shown that eating 5-6 prunes a day can help bones.
Magnesium is also important, so I take 300mg of magnesium glycinate/day.
I also take calcium, vitamin D, as well as C, B complex and fish oil capsules. Once calcium supplement I like is Seen Calcium Chews, which gets its calcium from food. Each chew contains 500mg calcium.

4 ReactionsI am new to this conversation and am weighing options to treat my severe osteoporosis. I'm not too keen on the prescription drug path so I was thinking to go natural and try and balance my bones with diet and some supplements. How long have you been using these supplements? Also, have you had a DEXA since starting the supplements and has your bone health improved?
