osteoporosis, calcium supplements and calcium paradox

Hello, I am prescribed to take alendronic acid with vitamin D3 for my osteoporosis. I take also calcium 1000mg for a long time. However, I have also high cholesterol (about 6,9) and I wonder about negative effect of such medication on my blood vessels. I have searched the literature and found that osteoporosis itself can cause calcification of vessels. Calcium supplements are found in some articles to cause the progression of aorta calcification. So, the question is if your doctors are recommending you to take calcium supplements or not?

Hello
I'm new here. I was diagnosed with osteo 2 years ago -ironically I also was diagnosed with bilateral calcific tendonitis in my rotator cuffs. This is very painful, I've had shoulder pain for about 7 years, progressive. I finally had my left shoulder surgery last year and now I will have to get the right shoulder done. Also, I'm in process of choosing the right osteo med for me, with endo dr and nurse practioner, and should be starting a med soon, which I'm freaking out about. Endo doc originally said start with Prolia, NP said Evenity My Spine T=-2.9, Femoral Neck T=-2.6, Hip T=-2.4, Arm T=-.3

Does anyone know if I take an osteo med, will that cause my calcific deposits to return, or possible show up somewhere else in my body?

I developed a large kidney stone while on Tymlos. The stone was large enough that it had to be surgically removed. One of the warnings for Tymlos is possibility of kidney stones, and high blood calcium levels. I feel like my blood calcium levels should have been followed while I was on the treatment. I refused the drugs with the potential jaw necrosis side effect. I don't think there are any good options, but I would really be concerned about Tymlos since you have a problem with calcium deposits.
