Osteoporosis and Probiotics

Has anyone used probiotics for osteoporosis and have any success. I was on Alendronate it helped my spine but not my hips. I think it had a bad effect on my hip. I don’t want to have the injections. I’m 86 years old !!!

What are your objections to injections? I think that probiotics have a role to play in health but have had no indication that they can play a significant role in managing osteoporosis.

@gravity3 Maybe surprisingly, there are a number of studies linking probiotics to bone metabolism. If you Google "probiotics osteoporosis", you'll get some results. It's not clear how strong the benefit is, but it is being studied.
