Yes, I have both. Confirmed by biopsy. Cleure toothpaste and Closys Ultra Sensitive mouthwash were heaven sent via ChatGPT search and Amazon. I was seen by a Teaching University Oral Medicine Specialist who said I may also have Sjögren's syndrome which may have led to the OLP. I will be starting on daily Dexamethasone rinses and oral anti fungal to prevent thrush today. Follow up in two months. I have also researched the Functional Medicine approach to OLP suggesting an elimination diet and multiple supplements. Pretty overwhelming.

@kathy333, may I ask what the supplements are that were recommended? I am seeing a OLP Washington University specialist this week. Hoping to find some relief. I have had OLP over 25 years. It flared up about 5 months ago and nothing is helping. I’m always interested in alternative supplements.
Thank you and best wishes!

@gypsyblue: Way too many! I went to a Functional Medicine doctor about 12 years ago for treatment of an environmental mold allergy causing serious sinus issues requiring a surgery. Doing that really helped to solve my issues, however, it took about 2 plus years to finally get past all of that. I took out my old notes to review test results, recommendations etc. I have also been reading a book called Dirty Genes by Dr. Ben Lynch. If you google his name with OLP, an article pops up about his own experience having OLP. Lot's of good info in his book. Another good resource was typing "autoimmune disease treatment plan from a functional medicine point of view" in ChatGPT...the most helpful! The supplements are individualized in all those resources. Every resource talks a lot about AIP elimination diet and lifestyle changes...sleep and stress reduction. So far, I have made a lot of changes, but nothing 100%...yet...
I would like to go back to the Functional Medicine doctor, but it is rather costly and I'm retired now. So far I have private paid a periodontist and the oral med specialist at UCSF because my Healthplan does not cover them. There are so, so many supplement recommendations, but they are individualized to a person's needs depending on their test results. A few entry level recommendations are Vitamin D3 and K2, a methylated multivitamin, magnesium, Omega 3s, B complex, zinc, etc, etc, etc, etc. Check out the book Dirty Genes. That might be a good place to start. Let me know where your search leads you and what you find out at Washington University. 25 years...yikes. As per my previous post...Cleure toothpaste gives me a lot of relief. Also, avoiding anything that stings or burns my lips or mouth. Aquaphor to my lips 24/7. I'm still waiting for the Dexamethasone rinse to be filled by my pharmacy. Hope you get some relief soon. Take care.
