One leg has a smaller diameter than the other

Last night, out of the blue, I recognized that my right leg has a smaller diameter than the left leg. Also, the right leg has the least sensitivity of the two. In other words, I believe that it is atrophying. Has anyone else experienced this. And I do exercise and/or walk daily. I look forward to reading your replies. God bless each of you. BrotherChuck… I’ve born with 14 foot and an 8 foot… sorry 😔 mine are 8.5 foot shoes and my 2 feet are not equal. My right foot could be an 8 foot one leg in a little shorter than the other. I need the W2 width. It’s funny in a way, my right leg/foot/ arms is stronger by easily lifting than my left, BUT I’m a left-handed-man by writing, pointing on my iPad, and a few others. But, again my right-side plays football, playing my right-side guitar, and a few others.

This is why I still walk as far a I am able and do exercises.

1) I was born shorter on my feet… one is 8” shoes and the other is 8.5”. My left side is smaller/thiner than my right-side like my arms. My right-side is stronger than my left and I do more holding anything like, taking & holding boxes, working on tools. I’m left-handed to write and work on computers, but my other-side can play a baseball/ football, and play my right-handed of my guitar. Sometimes I can do either one for some of that.

2) Muscle problems: Can’t feel some in my right-side on part and my feet. I feel down in my garage that hit my back-ends, 2 years ago. For the next3 weeks ago, my balance moved to falling down, pain-over-pain under my rear-ends and the back of my legs. No more cutting the grass; no more walking outside with my doggies; no more cleaning our kitchen room/house; no more taking care of things at her and me for outside or inside things.

Recently (my TBI accident takes me time trying to spell this word), one my doctor, felt my blood inside my whole body from my tip finger to the bottom of my toes. My blood is good and healthy but the pain is still there. My next step went to another doctor ( who has been there from my brain-injury 12 yrs ago) who showed me a picture of my lower back close to the top of my back-end. There was a Nerve between that. He took a 4-6 hour surgery at that hospital and spent a 5-day time at the hospital. After that, I went home.

After that surgery is great. No more pain! But still my balance is un-balanced; falling down is still here; little feeling on my right-side of the bottom of my knee down.

3) What’s next? Exercising most 5+ per day. Stretching my muscles from my my rear-ends to the bottom of feet. There’s little or no pain by stretching. Exercise is great inside my lower body. I’ve done this before this 2-year falling down. Still these problems are still here, but know I can move 8 feet and not holding my 2 or 4-wheels that can roll back ‘n forth. It’s takes me time to get back or fix-it more than it was.

Physical therapists have had to teach me how to walk again twice. My right calf is smaller now because I was dragging it. Now on my daily walks I feel so blessed! I also do balance exercises.
I have to focus on HOW I walk: posture, knee and big toe forward, weight on pads of feet, toes up, swing arms and torso. Don’t forget that I’m walking my grateful therapy dog 😜

My right leg began to be weak 5 years ago. Hip, knee and ankle flexors all not working properly. Walking difficult because muscles not firing in proper order. Therefore right leg wants to lag behind or drag so I need to be always conscious of moving it forward and firing the front thigh muscles. A year ago I began to have nerve pain in my pelvis and back of thighs when walking and exercising. A pelvic MRI showed bilateral tarlov cysts at S-2,3 and a Dr who specializes in tarlov cyst surgery has told me the cysts are the cause of my nerve pain and muscle atrophy. Muscles atrophy when they aren't getting the proper nerve flow.
My right thighs now measures 2" smaller around then left. I do daily balance Tai Chi which helps to keep my hips strong enough to keep walking, but with a limp because the atrophy caused my knee to have hyperflexia so it wants to straighten out when I take a step.
Keep moving , God Bless

Thank you for sharing this Wendy. I think that I will look into this also. Perhaps it is more than the arthritis in that area of my spine, post surgery. Did you go through the surgery and has that helped any? Thank you, Charles aka brotherchuckles80
