Hi.
My 88 year old mum has been diagnosed with OGJ. Oesophagus Gastric junction cancer. She is Getting a lot of intergestion when she eats and drinks and brings up mucus. Has anyone got any tips on how to relieve this intergestion and mucus.
She takes 40mg Omeprazole daily.

The same thing is happening to my husband right now. He would take two omeprazole pills each day. He's able to swallow and the little he did manage to swallow would be thrown back out with mucous. He spits out mucous all day long, even when he isn't eating or drinking. He experienced the symptoms for a week before he stopped being able to eat. I took him to the emergency room at St. Joseph's, where the current plan of action is to perform an EDG, place a stent if necessary while they're there, and perform variceal bonding if necessary as well. I advise taking her to the ER if she isn't eating. Is she in pain?

Hi Sophia, she does not want to go to hospital she is petrified.
Is the stent being done unheralded general anaesthetic xx

Unfortunately, they took it out. Only lasted two days finding out later in imaging he has a small bowel obstruction. I wish my husband would have listened to me sooner to go to the emergency room when he had all these horrible symptoms. Reason he has that his cancer is squeezing his intestines. Now they started chemo once a week on him. Hopefully cancer shrinks soon . All we can do is hope and have faith
