Numb toes: only thing that helps are socks, any other solutions?

Posted by sharig47 @sharig47, Jun 2 1:08pm

For almost 3 years my toes and the ball of my feet go numb, feel cold. The only thing that helps is socks. I have had to wear socks 24 hours a day for 3 years. Can’t go barefoot at all. I have also tried the barefoot shoes because a wider toe feels better but they aren’t good for any support. I wear them around the house.
Has anyone found a remedy or something that has worked? I hate wearing socks to bed!🥴

Is this circulation, or neuropathy?
Do you ever have normal feeling in the feet, does it only disappear when they're cold?

I have PN and wear socks to bed in winter.

If socks are all it takes to ameliorate the symptoms, be thankful!!

@v8auto
It is Neuropathy. I have R/A so that might have a lot to do with it. Yes the socks help. I was just curious what others are doing.

I have diabetic peripheral neuropathy in my feet and I have been wearing socks 24 hours per day year round for a long time. In addition to keeping my feet warm they minimize the pins and needles sensations. If I take them off the pins and needles become very bothersome. I will continue wearing them 24x7 for as long as they continue to provide this relief. After a while you’ll get used to wearing them to bed. This is an easy and cost less solution. If it helps you, do it!

That does help! That is exactly what I go through! I think it just helps to hear what others go through.

@oldbubba hello- I have PN for many years ... what type of socks that will help reduce PN on my feet ? I can not be barefoot as it brings more pain.

@michhino - Just my regular socks do the trick. I find the taller socks with elastic seem to work the best. I too could not walk barefoot in the house. However, after adding 60mg Duloxetine to my daily gabapentin 3x900mg, I am now able to walk barefoot (only in the house) with virtually no discomfort!
