Noticed something strange in my vagina?

Hi, I have this strange mass inside my vaginal opening. It's been there as long as I can remember, but just realized it is out of the ordinary. It doesn't hurt, it's the same color as the surrounding tissue. It's located at the very bottom of the opening, almost right at the perineum but it definitely attached to the inner wall of my vagina. It is almost tongue-like in shape, sticks out as far as my inner labia, and is centrally in the opening. It has always hurt to use tampons, but I'm 99% sure it is not because it this thing. Does anybody have any idea what this could be? Thanks.

@sanv1002 It is hard to say exactly what is going on? I think it would be best to get an appointment with a Gynecologist. They would be able to answer, and offer you a proper diagnosis. I wouldn't wait either, since you say this has been there awhile. The fact that you notice it more, and it gives you discomfort is more the reason you need to see a Dr. Wish you the best....

When you say that this mass "has been there as long as I can remember" what time frame do you mean? Several years?

I agree with Jackie, @travelgirl, in her post above that it is really important for you to seek medical attention. As you know, we at Mayo Connect are not medical professionals, just patients like yourself.

When you see your doctor for an annual Pap smear has it been noticed or mentioned?

Just wanted to check in with you to see how you are doing. Did you ever see a doctor regarding the mass you mentioned in your April post?

I hope that you are doing OK and that you have resolved this issue. I understand how the unknown can seem very fearful and cause anxiety. If you would like to post an update, I'd like to hear from you.
