Not sure if my problem is Areds2 or Fosamaz

I started taking Areds2 in October 2024 and was miserable, nausea and vomiting occasionally. When the doctor and I figured it out I was taking too much vitamin E so I stopped all other vitamins and things settled down, until the end of May. I was prescribed Fosamax, once a week, and started that on Sunday, May 25th . On the 31st of May I started with a cough that I thought was allergy or from the smoke from the fires in Canada. After two weeks I went to acute care and put on a z-pack and prednisone. When I finished taking both prescriptions there was no difference in my cough and it may have been worse, sometimes like the whooping cough I had as a kid. My throat was so dry it felt like it was closing off. It was so bad at night and when I woke up that I started sleeping in my recliner because laying down was making it worse. Consulting with my doctor we decided to stop the Fosamax for 2 weeks. That 2 weeks is gone and the cough is still there, however, I forgot to take Areds2 on July 5th and the next day the cough seemed to get better, but still not gone. I decided to stop taking the Areds2 and in checking the internet for dry throat discovered that Areds2 can cause a dry throat. What I would like to know is if the Fosamax triggered the dry throat that seems to be caused by the Areds2. I’m staying off the Areds2 for at least 2 weeks and if the dry throat is gone I’m not going to take it again.

I sometimes feel like a lab rat, trying to figure out side effects of meds. Coughing is not among the usual side effects for AREDS 2 ( https://www.drugs.com/sfx/preservision-areds-2-side-effects.html ). I've been on it for two years and haven't noticed symptoms, but everyone is different. Same for Fosamax ( https://www.drugs.com/sfx/fosamax-side-effects.html ). I did 3 Reclast infusions over 4.5 years and my side effects were 5 days of fatigue, mild flu symptoms, and a swollen knee, then fine; a friend on oral Reclast lost her sense of smell and taste. Hopefully you find answers. Things that help with dry throat and cough are staying hydrated, tea with honey, and coating your throat with a bit of honey (works about as well as cough meds).

You sure it's not a whooping cough redux? I recall reading about it recently in the news.
