Nocturnal Leg Cramps - Help!
Does anyone have a suggestion to help deal with foot/ankle/leg cramps in the middle of the night? I take plenty of calcium and magnesium and am thinking that I need to increase my potassium intake. Topical lotions (Theraworx, Tiger Balm, etc.) have not helped. I hope this is a good day for whoever is reading this! Sue

Try a little tonic water before going to bed works great for me.
I have found that Magnesium Glycinate really helps prevent night leg cramps well. It is the is least harsh on the laxative issue of other Mg supplements., I also use Gatorade as back-up if needed. It seems that dehydration is a factor so keep dtinking during day is best.

I also use Mg Glycinate. Among a lot of other benefits, glycine has a calming effect on the brain and body and may help promote sleep. I would suggest one tablet about an hour before sleep. I found I did not need the two servings. It does promote regularity also (it is good for the gut) but in a nice way.

1 ReactionThat makes sense as it contains quinine and that's a treatment for the cramps caused by malaria.
Grapefruit is a source of quinine and and you can make homemade tonic with it in a pinch. There are lots of recipes online.
Tonic water with quinine helps with leg cramps.

1 ReactionGood morning ! I started using Theraworx at night and it did not work.., but when I started applying twice a day "religiously " It made a big difference. On days that I forget to use in the day time I will definitely have cramping at night. Drink at least 5-6 glasses of water and yes, supplementing Potassium, B6 might help. Stay away from to much excercise to late in the evening. These things have helped me. I hope it helps you too .

2 ReactionsI have had bad leg cramps, in the day and night. I am a New Zealander and discovered ‘Crampstop’, a spray that hiker friends introduced to me. If I get cramp at night I simply spray Crampstop in my mouth a few successive times and it works, for me, miraculously.

4 ReactionsMy husband & I drink Powerade Zero or Gatorade Zero. Works great for us.
How much potassium? I get them every night and I take a teaspoon of mustard that helps.
