Nights sweats and Shingrix vaccine

Posted by mjq @mjq, May 21, 2021

I had the shingles vaccine on May 4. That night I experienced a terrible night sweat. Ever since that night I sweat every night excessively. At least one or two nights a week I must get up and change my night clothes completely. I am on immune suppressant drugs. Has anyone else experienced this?

Wow, I just now found this thread, Although I don't wish ill effects from vaccines on anyone, I am so relieved to know I'm not the only one who experienced adverse effects from the second Shingrix shot. I've had the distinct impression that some of my friends think I'm exaggerating or don't believe me.
I got the first Shingrix shot just short of 6 months before the second one in winter 2020. While I didn't experience any problems with the first one, I almost immediately felt like I was developing a fever after the second one. By the time I went to bed that night, I was in pain and had a fever. The pain was weird. It was a sort of pelvic pain. I've had a hysterectomy so it wasn't menstrual cramping. I have been diagnosed many years ago with interstitial cystitis. Some people have pain with that, but I never had pain. I was able to get in to see my PC doctor who referred me to a urologist for a cystoscopy. Then Covid hit and everything shut down. I had to wait until the shut down ended to see the urologist.
Was able to see the urologist, I had a radiofrequency ablation in my lumbar spine. The RFA was done to address my normal sciatica, but it also took the pelvic pain away. But I kept my appointment with the urologist.
The urologist did the cystoscopy--one of the worst experiences of my life. It was painful and she did not give me the antibiotic that she told me she would prescribe afterward. The result was about 3 months of a UTI that was finally cured after a few rounds of antibiotics from my gynecologist. A UTI plus interstitial cystitis is absolute agony. The urologist said she didn't see anything wrong during the cystoscopy, but advised me to return in 6 months for a second one. I did not return so have prayed all is fine.
Ever since that second Shingrix I've also had times of sweating profusely, and never had that problem before Shingrix. Although the sweats have tapered off, I sweat much more now than before Shingrix.
Thank you for reading. I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one that had an adverse reaction to the Shingrix vaccine.

I had too many shots at once. Shingrix, Covid and flu within two week time frame. Horrible side effects: perpetration, upset stomach, headaches. You name it I had it. No one told me that I might have side effects. Horrible itching, Hives, all over my body.

@lindyk I've had night sweats ever since I got the second Shingrix shot in January 2022. My understanding is that night sweats are a common reaction to the vaccine but normally only last a couple of weeks - unless you are on immunotherapy of some kind.
