New to Mayo Clinic

We have 3 days of appointments coming up. If surgery is required does it happen right away or is there a waiting period ? If there is a waiting period generally how many month wait?

Depends upon the surgeon's schedule.

Our surgery wasn’t a week after appointment. We had time to go home and get our car and come back up.stayed at hotel. All went well. Good luck. MAC

Welcome to Mayo Connect.
Like others mentioned, it is going to depend on surgeon's schedule and urgency. Even though it would be nice to have everything done at one time. Depending on type surgery, sometimes it is nice to have time to prepare for.

Do you care to share type of type of surgery?

As a result of an accident most of the humerus bone and shoulder socket is missing. We were told to plan to stay for 10 business days (maybe everyone is told that) but we understood that was in case more appointments were needed.

As a result of an accident most of the humerus bone and shoulder socket is missing. We were told to plan to stay for 10 business days (maybe everyone is told that) but we understood that was in case more appointments were needed.

Cannot say for sure, but 10 days is longer than usually suggested so that might indicate they are allowing time for possible surgery.
