New to group

Posted by cmcclelland @cmcclelland, 1 day ago

I am posting because I am new to this group and about to have my first calcium score test. I am TERRIFIED even without having had the test so was glad to find this support group. I have a family history of heart disease and stroke (father), have HPB (take meds) and low tolerance for exercise. Otherwise, healthy 61 year old. Will follow up with results but just wanted to introduce myself. I am thankful to have found the group!

Don't worry about it. My score is 205 and I'm on a statin. I'm 66. I still go jogging 3x a week. Your arteries don't have to be perfect to work, but you do need to know what is going on to keep it that way.

I’m 69 with an awful family history, a cardigan calcium score in the 75% percentile, and I’ve not had the cardiac events that both my parents had (starting at age 34), or my brother.

I have an “unamerican diet” according to my MD (no red meat, lots of fruits and vegetables, nuts, etc), take meds, and exercise.
