New Nebulizer equipment plastic odor

Posted by marilynsm @marilynsm, Jun 14 8:23am

I change my nebulizer equipment every two weeks-tubing, cup, mouthpiece, etc. when I open the bag with new pieces, there is a strong plastic odor. Anyone else experience this? Should I wash my new equipment before using?

Always, except for the tubing, which cannot be washed.

@marilynsm - I buy several nebulizer sets at a time and store them in a clear plastic "shoebox" until I need them. I always open the outer package slightly to allow the to "off-gas" because I too hate that smell. You could also try a vinegar soak if the smell persists - that's what I do with refillable water bottles and other containers.
