Neurosurgeon for Glioblastoma resection

My father (53 M) has a Glioblastoma at the junction of the posterior body and splenium of corpus callosum. He had a biopsy at Brown university in Rhode Island. Does anyone know a neurosurgeon who can safely perform a resection as the surgeons at brown as well as Sloan Kettering who we consulted with state that it is risky. We are hoping to find a neurosurgeon who can perform it without any complications.

Hi, @kara81 While I’m no medical professional, my wife had brain surgery and I imagine every neurosurgeon is going to tell you it is a risky undertaking.

That said, my wife had Fredric Meyer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN perform her neurosurgery and I regard him very highly.

There are general neurosurgeons and those who do skull base work. If in thenpariotol lobe, theskull base trained are Best at
avoiding ytauma of the cranial nerves. After 7. Hrs in O R I had no pain and no loss of neurological function. (Academic center, faculty surgeon and neuro/ brain stem fellow for assistant). H9me 4
Days post op. 4 week mri clean

Perhaps you could start by asking the NSs who have thus far provided you with the "risky" surgical description with: a) what does the risk entail ( i.e. death, disability(ies) b) what effects the surgical risks have on other structures/anatomy (e.g. eyes/eyesight; ears/hearing; motor movement etc). Somethings/things that may seriously alter ones quality of life.

Each NS you seek to consult with, will have the reporting/medical records notations from the previous doc(s) in which to review your love ones case, therefore, their medical views are predicated on what and how they interpret your love ones pre and post surgical outcomes.

I had 7.5 hrs of surgery at UCLA. No post op pain nor neurological loss. I have no fear of academic quality neurosurgeon

My tumor was in the right temporal lobe. Fully removed. No neurological deficits. Post op 1 day in iCU and 4 in the neuron rehab unit. Had three weeks fractionated radiation Rx and 3 weeks on TMZ. All very well tolerated.
