I have been eating a plant based healthy diet for 8 years; I still got neuropathy in a matter of about 8 to 10 weeks last year. I ate very little processed foods. I think a healthy diet is important, but it really does not explain why we got it in the first place, unless you are deficient in some vitamins or minerals or have B6 toxicity. Always supplement B12 if vegan.

@jankavs I wasn't a vagan but still I became very B12 deficient. My mother doesn't absorb B12 either so perhaps there's a genetic influence. A routine blood test for B12 made a difference for me as nothing else had been helpful to that date. B12 supplementation arrested the progression of my illness and it even turned it around to some degree.

@scared002 I'm 71 and have had neuropathy since a cancer diagnosis over a decade ago. Gabapentin left me disoriented and I had a fender-bender, which I interpreted as a sign to get off of it. Vitamin B12 really helped. Though I'm not as stringent as Don, an improved diet has helped. I occasionally take ibuprofen, exercise regularly and try keep my feet warm. I recently tried CBD (it's legal in my jurisdiction) and it helps too. Hang in there and try to be open to trying different things (as long as they don't hurt you). My neuropathy hasn't progressed for years. Yes, it's somewhat painful at bedtime and often hard to fall asleep but otherwise I live a normal life ... except for my afternoon naps. LOL

@pamfitz I just started this battle recently, you're inspirational. I'm going to try CBD next. Best of luck to you, God bless.✌️❤️🙏

@pamfitz B vitamins seems to be an underlying issue. I take a B complex, I think everyone who has neuropathy should.

I try to avoid drugs at all costs but it sounds like you might benefit from the usual prescriptions. Gabapentin and lyrica. Next they might try some anti seizure meds that alternatively help nerve pain. I get substantial relief from Voltaren topical gel. Good luck, let's beat this. ✌️❤️🙏

@donhills2113 Agreed. B vitamins are water soluble so it's hard to overdo them.

@donhills2113 I won't go back to the gabapentin ... too disorienting for me. But CBD is helpful and I'll give the Voltaren a try. I hadn't thought of applying something to the soles of my feet LOL. Thanks! ✌️❤️

@jankavs
my neuropathy is caused my ongoing chemotherapy. I went 100% WFPB bc of my recent cancer diagnosis
I’m sorry to hear that you also have neuropathy.
I do supplement B12.

@mtstack Sounds like you've established a great diet that works for you. I was only diagnosed two months ago. I've gone from barely walking with miserable pain to walking with little aid with tolerable pain. I owe it 90% to diet(and quitting drinking) and exercise of course. Good luck to you, let's beat this! ✌️❤️🙏

Thanks, Don. I was only diagnosed with cancer in July. I’ve been eating WFPB since then and felt great. The neuropathy is a side effect of one of the chemo drugs and expected to worsen during treatment. I’ll try your suggestion of Voltaren.
Good luck to you as well!

@pamfitz the Voltaren gives me fairly long term relief, I also take Aleve. Right now I'm soaking my feet in warm Epson salt, afterward soak in an ice bath.

@pamfitz hi & thanks for response! I have neuropathy but I can say it doesn’t bother me that much. I take B vitamins and gabapentin.
