Neuropathy in Hands
My rheumatologist states the neuropathy in my hands and feet is not PMR. However, I never had issues previously except for very mild arthritis in my hands. I have been on the same dose of prednisone for over a week and have been feeling really good. Then the pain in my hands wakes me up this morning, and it is hard to use my hands due to the pain. Does anyone else have this kind of issue? The frustration is that it seems like you have not changed your routine, and yet the symptoms change. As someone has so wisely stated previously, this is not a linear condition.

Goodness! I had hand pain, wrist pain, the start of carpal tunnel, and weakness in my hands so that I could barely take the cap off my toothpaste in the morning or brush my hair. It took two hands to lift a glass to my lips. But you know...my body worker explained to me that the neck-to-shoulder nerve wraps around your upper arm and part goes to the back where you can get that "crazy bone" elbow or down the forearm to wrists and hands. Since the jaw bone's connected to the wrist bone. . .don't you suppose inflammation anywhere from the neck down the arms is likely to affect the hands? Makes sense to me. Prednisone resolved the issue almost immediately for me. BTW, I think the carpal tunnel had something to do with holding my doggone phone. I was too tired to do much other than puzzles on my phone for a couple of weeks before I made it to the doctor. I exercise my hands in the pool when I'm water walking. That really helps a lot. (Find a warm pool if you can.)
