Neuropathy, hammertoe, arthritis here

My neuropathy has led to some slight incontinence (urine dripping) by the time I realize I should go to the bathroom. I usually can "make it" but occasionally I get drips in my underwear.
Anyone experience it and found help ( not depends)?

What can I do to treat my neuropathy

Good evening @rog15 and welcome to Connect. This forum is rather up close and personal. And the reason that we share so readily is based on both a need to know and the trust that both members and volunteers have for each other,

Would you be able to share more about your neuropathy? It is essential if you want to attract others who have similar diagnoses and treatment experiences. As you may already know, there are 100+ forms of neuropathy. For many of us, the cause can be revealed through tests and evaluations by neurologists and other special medical professionals.

What do you already know about your neuropathic symptoms? Do you have pain, itching, numbness, or something else that interferes with your quality of life and dreams for the future?

For example, I have small fiber neuropathy and have had it for ten years. It was diagnosed through a skin biopsy and has been progressing much more quickly than I would have imagined. If possible it is good to know how you ended up with neuropathy. Folks with diabetes will have different neuropathy elements than those who have recently had cancer treatments.

In case you need to refresh your knowledge and understanding of your current neuropathic status, I would suggest you take the time to read and evaluate the information on these two links.

How about letting me know what you find out and for what questions you are ready to find answers?
May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering,
Chris

Hi @fncz, I do have to make frequent trips to the bathroom at night but I haven't had any leaking so far. Mine is caused by an enlarged prostrate and I take tamsulosin which helps some. I've also read that Myofascial Release Therapy may be helpful in some cases. You might want to read the description for the discussion to see all of the conditions it may help.

I have slight numbness in my lower half. It's like I touch my skin and it feels like I have a sock on. No pain as of yet

The incontinence may not be from the neuropathy. If you are an older female or male, it may just be an age thing. I have neuropathy and I am a 74 yo female. I began having some urinary incontinence a few years ago. My gynecologist explained to me that it is a normal thing for some people as they age. The sphincter muscles weaken and we begin to drip. What you are experiencing is exactly what I have. I try not to wait til my bladder is screaming and sometimes I still barely make it. There are lots of pads available. Just find what works best for you. Don't worry too much.

@fncz I'm 73, with neuropathy for more than 10 years. If you have autonomic neuropathy, it can affect any number of body parts and functions. Or the urinary problems could be unrelated. I started having sudden urgency 6 years ago and took medication for it until I started getting Botox injections in my bladder. So far they have been fairly effective.

Have you seen a urologist?
