Neuropathy after serious Staph infection in right foot and surgery .

Posted by alg56 @alg56, Jan 29 9:07pm

Had serious Staph infection in right foot that required surgery and 2 week hospital stay for PICC line injections of antibiotics. After release from hospital I now have neuropathy in legs, feet and small fingers in both hands.
I am seeing some improvement in the neuropathy by taking liquid vitamin B12 with Folic Acid. I have been doing that for approximately 4 weeks.
I also just started taking CoQ10 to see if that also help.

Welcome @alg56, I'm glad to hear that you are seeing some improvement in the neuropathy taking liquid vitamin B12 with Folic Acid. The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy has a list of supplements that are known to be helpful for neuropathy here - https://www.foundationforpn.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Complementary-and-Alternative-Treatments-Revised-2020-final.-1.pdf.

Have you talked with your doctor or surgeon about the new neuropathy symptoms to see if they may have some suggestions?

I had MRSA develop after a major back surgery. I was in the hospital for nine months. When I was released I had to learn to walk again. About two years later I developed neuropathy which then progressed to the point that I cannot walk without my walker. Balance is in the toilet. And now I have drop foot in my right foot in addition to the neuropathy. I feel for you alg56. God bless you. brotherchuckles

You can purchase it over the counter. I've used ones from Life Extension and a few of the others in the past - https://top10best.how/vitamin-b12-folate. I try to get the best at the lowest price but sometimes hard to tell.
