Neuropathy
This is just a little discovery I made, maybe it will be helpful to somebody. I'm 83, in constant severe back pain, have had 4 surgeries and need 2 more but can't have them because of deteriorated bones. Neuropathy in my feet is just another painful nuisance. So I noticed my ankles swelling even though I pretty much sit in a recliner with my legs elevated all day. I put on my support stockings (with open toes) and noticed after several hours that my feet barely hurt! It's been 2 days and still very minimal burning and tingling. I hope this works for others!

@gailannr Look on amazon for cuffs that inflate and fasten with velcro. They are battery powered and you can walk with them on.

1 Reaction@anniesezu812 Like you I don't know how to PM. You say you have nerve pain , is it in the hands and feet? if it is neorphy they say there is no cure, Years ago as a child I used to wonder why old people smelled lid they had a cold. I found out they like I do now with My use of vicks vapor rub like they used in the old days helps. and about hour hours later, I use Blue made with emu oil. I'm 89 years old with a bad heart and blood pressure that is caused by mostly by high stress. eating properly and doing as much excersize as possible and not worrying about. every little thing, has allowed me to work every day and live a normal life. Istill maintain good balance and movement and I dress my selffor all those that wonder. My personal belief is ,If I stop working and moving I will Die.
I don't know what you eat, or if the food causes you gas or up set. But I found my body still likes garden fresh vegies like I grew up on. I try to eat close to the same time each day. This seems compatable with my system. To stop my pain I use life wave patches very expensive but helps if needed, most of the time I just use the right spices like Rosemary for coughtingand chest congestion and is an antiinflamatory added to my food. there are many spices used by our early pioners the work great and don't have side effects and I recomend this for everyone and I don't want people to just stop taking your meds without talking to your Doctor first. But I use no chemicals given to me by doctors as I don't trust them. WHY? To start with I'm an old farmer I ate from fresh garden and aminals raised on Grass corn,All grown with out chemical fertilizers or aminals given chemicals to make them fatter faster. Then you eat thes vegies and Meat and you get fatter. WHY? if the aminal eat it it is in the meat and when you eat that meat or vegatble you get fat also. Make sense to me.
Todays market vegies and meat comes from all over the world and we ave no knowledge how they were raised do we. This is the major cause of many illness today including over weight. By eating as we did in the old days before all these new Illness.

1 Reaction@anniesezu812 I was recently prescribed a low dose of Lyrica (pregabalin) and I am having some luck with it for sensor motor polyneurophty. Neurologist may increase the dosage when I return for follow up visit in November. Hope you find relief.

1 Reaction@quietriver Thank you so much for the info. Quite a lot to consider. Like you I no longer trust Drs at all. All they have done is worsen my initial small issue into, now a life changing, possibly progressive very serious condition. I do have Neuropathy in my feet. That's less of an issue than the severe tingling/ burning sensations in my spine and abdomen. My Drs repeatedly push heavy duty physc meds so Im deemed ' difficult/ non-compliant'. I am on opiods out of necessity but will study your response re food etc. I do try to eat plant based but eating is difficult. Thanks so much, keep going, stay strong.!!
@anniesezu812 no success with duloxetine, but I've been on pregabalin for 15 months. It works, more or less. I tried to stop and that was not a good experiment. I tried to drop the dose and that did not work either
@anniesezu812 hi Annie! I've been on them a couple of times. Once Neurontin, and again Neurontin and Cymbalta. I have fibromyalgia and Psoriatic arthritis along with multiple orthopedic problems and neuropathy. So, I have constant debilitating pain. When I took them both times they gave me wonderful pain relief! But I discontinued them because they severely affected my cognitive function. The brain and nervous system is like a "loop". From the brain to the tips of your toes. The nerves from the brain send signals to the body and when the body experiences pain it sends signals to the brain. Because pain tells the brain that there is a problem that needs to be addressed. What these drugs do, is interrupt that loop. They break the connection of the pain signaling to the brain. But it my experience they interrupted my cognitive function. Also I gained over 60 pounds. From 115 to 176 pounds. From start to finish plus two more years before it melted off. So everyone is going to have different experiences. You need to consider the risk/benefit and decide whether it's right for you. Good luck and God bless you.

1 Reaction@anniesezu812 I have used Duloxetine and Pregabalin for many years and I could not tolerate life without them. I have never had any troubling side effects at all.
@cyndigarrison Lyrica/Pregabilyn does stimulate the appetite a little, but eating food is what makes us gain weight. It is not the medication itself.
