Neurologist I went to, to have brain examines to tweak neurotransmitte

Raise the bar here. Dr had no idea How. I asked re psychiatric medical power? They do not have a clue. It's all failure & success. So ya can't regulate a brain w med according to my neurologist. To actually take a picture & see serotonin (for example) needs increased/decreased- is Still a game w ppl vs Dr's. To enter the walls of an asylum You enter at your own risk. That's the only thing I know abt the brain & that is scarey & horrible & unacceptable

I agree. Psychiatric meds seem to be all trial and error

Yes it is. It's all trial and error

But it had to be that way until now. A new technique has been developed that can assess how a medication will work on your system. I’m an old psychiatric nurse who worked in chronic, acute adult and acute adolescent psychiatry and I used to administer meds to patients. It was a challenge to find what worked and what didn’t. Here is a primer on it for you on the subject and I hope it benefits you.

to Jenatsky....absolutely right! Please read from the site he has given. I worked psychiatry for a number of years and it is extremely difficult to get the exact "recipe" for the patient. I think this article will help you understand that better....better yet, share it with the psychiatrist!

Proceed with caution with all health care especially psychiatry. Per research trauma is behind psychiatric issues. To heal from trauma requires getting at the root cause or causes. That includes the patient looking at themselves and their part. Neurotransmitters serotonin too high or low? That was sold to me too but now I believe that was to just increase the profits of big pharma.

@kb2014 Trauma is not the only cause of psychiatric illness. Many people have a chemical imbalance that has nothing to do with trauma but causes an illness. Many thousands of people are helped with psychiatric medication and they now honed prescribing to a fine science so patients can go thru less trial and error.
