1 ReactionHi,
That is so awful to have to deal with and definitely not healthy. I can recommend a home remedy for constipation that my mom always gave me. I'm 79 and still use it. It's natural but may be a little harsh. It's a teaspoon or more if needed, of baking soda (the kind you cook with – Arm and Hammer) dissolved in a glass of water. Drink the whole glass. You may want to squeeze a little lemon juice in it to make it taste better. It tastes awful, but it works. Stay near the bathroom. It works fairly fast. By the way, this also helps get rid of gas and bloating. After it works, try and drink a lot of water to keep from being dehydrated.
Eating certain foods also help such as prunes, fruit, nuts etc. But you probably already know that.
I hope this helps you.

2 ReactionsThanks so much. If you do this, does one typically then get to something more normal in the next days?
And thanks for the food recommendation too. She’s been trying various things and today is on to prunes. Also, she’s 71…
You are so welcome! Yes, you do get back to normal even right after using it and being able to have normal bowel movements again. However, everyone is different. But this is natural and won't hurt you. Just be sure and drink a lot of water afterwards so you don't get dehydrated. Water helps with constipation too. Some other foods that help me are nuts, (any kind), and all kinds of fruit especially raisins and oatmeal. This baking soda recipe came from my grandmother and my great grandmother during the depression of the 1930's when things were scarce so you had home remedies. Like I stated, I've used it all my life thanks to my Mom giving it to me when I was little. I hope it helps!

My husband had his first Lanreotide injection 6 days ago and had his first bowel movement today while we were at a Mass General imaging facility. He feels much better. Unfortunately he is also having severe back pain in the middle of his back which is what led us to an ER and CT scan that found his NET hiding in his abdomen with minor lesions on the liver. They think he has had it for maybe 5 years. A PET scan revealed that there was no spread to his spine. No one can figure out why he is having severe back pain. Has anyone experienced such issues.,,,?

3 ReactionsSorry to read of everyone's problems with constipation. It sure can be difficult. As for myself, I deal it it almost constantly from receiving immunotherapy for cancer.
For me, without going to a dr. I've helped myself by daily taking four fiber capsuals, four stool softeners. But what seems to help more is apple sause, and the best is adding a nice glass of apple cider or and an apple which is getting harder to find great tasting apples in N. Ohio in May.
I'm certainly not a health nut, but I find if I can help myself with an apple, apple sause, cider and now some great tasting grapes are coming in from S. America. I'm happier and going better.
What helps me might not work all. Good luck everyone.

1 ReactionI have been on Lanreotide every 4 weeks x 10+ years. Very similar side effects and rely on Miralax 4 to 5 times/week.

Perhaps this could be one of the contributing factors..
"The Link Between Constipation and Back Pain
The pressure can radiate, leading to discomfort that's felt in the abdomen and elsewhere. The discomfort is often described as a dull, aching pain. In some cases, the pressure from the stool buildup can press on nerves in the lower spine, which can contribute to back pain. "

1 Reaction@miracle95 , I have been on Lanreotide for 3+ yrs ( pNet, Gr.2, Stage4); had surgery in Feb2023. I have severe back pain ( lower back and groin). I am also on Coumadine, so cannot take ibuprofen. Going to PT. It may not be necessarily cancer related ( no bone lesions and mets, yet), but it started after surgery... So I resourced to PT and Tylenol...

My husband’s pain is getting worse everyday. He used to go to the gym 3/4 times a week until this past November. He used to be a runner and very fit. Now he can barely get out of bed. His pain is constant. We have had a PET scan and a recent thoracic MRI. PET shows no bone issues. Will get the MRI results tomorrow. I’ve read that multiple myeloma can create excessive back pain and bone pain. I’m asking the GP for a referral for a bone marrow biopsy for him. I started getting high fevers and horrible bone pain about 4 years ago and a bone marrow biopsy determined I have chronic lymphocytic leukemia. So I’m trying to figure out if another form of cancer could be the culprit for the back pain.
