Negative FISH but one positive cell with abnormal signal.
(Sorry if this is a duplicate.) I am being evaluated as a result of long term (over 20 years) of microhenaturia. I got results of my FISH test today. I thought at first it was good news, since the cytology came back negative for malignancy. However, on further examination, I see this:
NEGATIVE *** FISH ASSAY However one positive cell with abnormal signal pattern for chromosomes 3, 6, 7 and 20 probes was observed, which is below the threshold of positive OligoFish result (minimum of 4 or more positive cells in not less than 25 cells examined).
Has anyone else had this result? I'm scheduled for a cat scan and followup appointment with URO doc.

@eliz928, you mention that you've been monitoring microhematuria (microscopic red blood cells in your urine) for over 20 years. Is the FISH test something that you have done routinely? Or did you have the FISH test at this time to rule our bladder cancer? What did you learn from your appointment with the urologist?
Yes, the urologist ordered cytology/FISH; CT urogram with Contrast; and will perform a cystoscopy. Everything has come back negative since the FISH test only had 1 "abormal" cell. I really don't think there is anything going on. I'll probably just continue to have asymptomic mysterious Microhematuria.
Sorry I didn't answer your first question. No, this is my first FISH. In fact, no one was ever concerned about this after the first workup in 2007 which didn't show anything abnormal either.
