Need med(s) for depression & anxiety…advice?

Posted by 1k194 @1k194, Jun 29, 2023

I need something for depression and anxiety. I have a general tendency/problem with these to begin with (plus chronic fatigue that gets really bad sometimes), but right now unavoidable life stress is making it tenfold. I’m not functioning or dealing well enough.

I’ve been on some things in the past: Zoloft; lexapro, Wellbutrin XL, and I’ve tried herbal stress supplements.

The Wellbutrin made me extremely agitated, insomnia, racing thoughts. The Zoloft and lexapro helped with calming anxiety a little bit and helped me control my emotions better; but they also made my fatigue worse and brain fog worse…kind of like a “zombie” effect, even with the “lowest therapeutic dose”.

Does anyone else who have these three issues (chronic fatigue that limits normal daily activities, depression, anxiety) have advice on what meds work for them?
Thanks

I had an anxiety attack that scared me over ten years ago and I asked if there' s a med i can keep handy so that I don't go thru the hell-of-waking-up-choking. I did get one but also told CBT should help. I figured the source of my anxiety and calmed myself accepting the loss of five-years of sold effort 'wasted' but not in the sense that it did provide me a lens to understand human problems with greater nuance -- to help my life questions and of humanity's.

But if u look Mayo's website, It gives under Fisk Factors, and again under Prentive measures uself info. For me what was relevant is boosting self-image. Yes. even as I've entered in my 8th decade I still have human problems!
So How do I boost mine? Two ways: Showing myself I'm able to do critical thinking to help solve NEW ways to look at the issues around us in news. If I can find faulty conclusions, I can say: Hey, I know BETTER.
But I also do some short puzzles in New YorkTimes athat give you scores from magnificient and impressive to splendid, if do in fewer tries. A playful way to feel good...but also never taking it too seriously as Sometimes u could be tired or did stupid(not serious) mistakes.

But My main point of writing is as I left the coffee shop after sitting for over an hour to walk back home, I felt pain in my rt foot. SinceI just read Pickle-Ball is a game I'd like to play, I said; Shoot! not with painful foot.
But as I kept walking I began to feel PAIN disappearing. JOY, I felt. I knew it has happened now and then but always improves with Walking More. Short story, on reaching home I even kept walking all the 13 floors to top and walked doing Dips in stairwell to unwind arms.

I have tried over 6 anti-depressants. ALL have made me feel worse. I just cannot take them. The only thing that has helped my panic disorder is Klonopin, a Benzodiazepine. It’s a little tricky because of the chances of dependency if you take it for too long. I was taking a VERY small dose—-.25 mg/day. Right now I’m slowly weaning off, and I’m controlling my anxiety by exercising. I go to the gym most days, and I feel much better. There are a myriad of natural ways to help yourself….good luck!

I am taking Wellbutrin with Viibryd. I get the energy boost with Wellbutrin and the Viibryd eliminates the negatives of Wellbutrin. I have been on many types of antidepressants and this is working for me now.

Hi,

Does Wellbutrin have any side effects? I was also thinking about taking Wellbutrin. May I know how long have you been taking it?

Four medicines that work for me for depression, anxiety, and fatigue are:
depression: methylphenidate (Ritalin)
depression: buproprion (Wellbutrin) - a norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor
anxiety: clonazepam (Klonopin)
fatigue: rivaroxaban (Xarelto) - off label use of a blood thinner

It took my doctor and I ten years to find this combination.
Best wishes.

Adrian, Wellbutrin by itself gives me energy and lifts my depression but it also causes me anxiety/stress. When I combine it with another antidepressant the anxiety isn’t there. Some antidepressants work better than others in combination w Wellbutrin and Viibryd is one of them.

Thanks . I was thinking about taking Ritalin or Wellbutrin for a few weeks. I have to choose between one of them. They both work well for depression and concentration. I was thinking about combining Wellbutrin or Ritalin with mindfulness and meditation. Like this I will reduce the anxiety at the same time.
