Nebulizer supplies
I am curious how much time it takes people to use the nebulizer with .7% solution. I am finding that the kind of nebulizer cup seems to vary a lot in how long it takes to nebulize all the solution.
The ones I was just sent are taking me 15 min or more and still all the solution isn't used up.
I am wondering if there a better cup to use (or machine?) attaching a photo of the kind they just sent.

When I used a compressor type nebulizer this was my set up. I think each vial of 4mL took around 8 minutes or so, depending on if it was breath activated or not.

@carolmj It completely depends on the nebulizer, But, as far as I know, every nebulizer leaves behind some solution (approximately 1 ml) in the cup so you don't need to try to fully empty the reservoir. Maybe this will help cut down on the time it takes?

acetylcysteine, and it takes me 30-35 minutes. I was told I could use both at the same time. I use the nebulizer at the same time.I use my shaker vest for 30 minutes. It seems most of you, it takes less than 10 minutes..
Hi, I use the Pari pro neb max nebulizer with LC Sprint cup sets. I mix sodium chloride 0.9 with ascetasistine and it takes 15 to 20 min to absorb it all. You should change cups every 3 to 6 mos max though as they do lose their efficiency, depending on how often you use them. Hope this helps? Mike
@scoop Sue, my Pulmonologist was very precise on me getting only the Pari Vios LC reusable nebulizer. I use 7% hypertonic saline twice a day. It’s been effective. My complaint is it takes a solid 15 min each treatment,with about one ml left as I know is OK. I could go longer I’m sure.I’d love to cut that back to eight minutes. Do you what is different about these cups that expedite everything so much ? I’m a rule follower by nature but wide open to hearing of more efficient options too. Thank you, Jeanne

I can only tell you what I did to make things more efficient. I switched to a mesh nebulizer, Pari eFlow. It's pricey but I've saved lots of time so worth it. I've written a lot about it in this forum. I don't have time to find it now but you can search posts. Search for eFlow or eRapid and my username you should find a ton of info!

3 Reactions@vstankie please check on acetylcysteine facts but if I remember correctly it should not be mixed with anything and should be nebulized in a clean nebulizer cup. I use acetylcysteine 10% sometimes when i feel my mucus is not moving and I noticed if I use the same cup as for saline, it takes forever to finish the cycle
Hi Lilianna, when I first went on the acetylcysteine, i was told I could do both budesinide and acetal sistine at the same time. The respiratory therapist even mixed them together.When I was in the hospital.
@scoop Hi, could you tell me how much did you pay for your Pari E repaid nebulizer? I’ve seen it at Just Nebulizers store for $1,100.00.

@loveu nebology.com has frequent sales, it is $899 right now, with 2 heads (need replacing about once or twice a year.) When I was shopping, I registered, put one in my cart and went away. A couple days later they sent an email offering a discount, so I got it for about $750.
I gulped really hard over the price, but 2 of us use it, and being so fast and quiet is wonderful.
