Navigating the cost of residential care for family member wi/ PD in CA
Hi! I am trying to figure out the finances to help keep my father in a residential location outside of my parents house. My mother can no longer care for my father and we need help. Figuring out the long term costs and how to do this step by step has been VERY challenging. Can anyone recommend who we should contact to sort all of this out? Thanks for any help.

Hello @ciosterhout and welcome to Connect. Yes, financing a long-term care facility can be an expensive proposition and it needs a lot of thought and planning.
My first suggestion would be to contact an elder law attorney. You can call the State Bar or go to their website and see what attorneys in your area might have this specialty. I know that no one wants to pay for attorney fees, but if you call for a one-hour consultation, the attorney might be able to give you some direction and it may be worth the cost of an appointment.
You can also contact your county's Agency on Aging and ask what resources they might have to help you find a good facility for your dad.
If you don't mind sharing a bit more, how long has your dad had PD? What are his major disabilities right now? Is it balance, gait, or incontinence?
