Do you guys take NAC or Mullien capsules or both, and how much? Thanks!

Hello, My pulmonary Dr recommended Mullein leaf. I buy it in liquid dropper form and put it in morning water glass each day. Used to take NAC but Dr No but says Mullein leaf Turmeric ginger Omega 3 and 1200 mg mucenix twice day smart vest 2x day albuterol neb 2 x day. It has stabilized my 83 yr old hubby with bronchiectasis. Ask your Dr first.

I just stopped NAC with approval from my Dr. I didn’t notice any improvement when taking it and the capsules felt like they would get stuck in my throat then it made me nauseous. I haven’t added in Mullein or Mucinex at this time but nebuluze, use my vest and Aerobika.

I have been taking NAC 600 mg twice a day for the last 6 months. I have mild bronchiectasis and MAI. No sputum production, but was experiencing a tightness/soreness around my sternum that has improved since I started taking the NAC. I use Life Extension brand. I told my NTM pulmonologist in Houston that I was taking it at my last appointment. He looked it up and said there was no reason not to continue…
This is just my experience.

I have been taking 600MG NAC twice daily for years at doctor's suggestion. It has become part of my baseline medication regimen so it's very difficult to say if it still is making a contribution. Because I have recently incurred more mucus, I added 3500MG of Mullien (pill) daily to my routine. I can definitely say that the Mullen improves my breathing/congestion throughout the night. I've read about other folks negative problems with these drugs on this forum so please consider all this in the proper context.

@buddy43
your pulmonologist sounds very good. I'd love his name if you live in Boston

Sorry , I live in Litchfield Ct. But she is young and of Indian descent. I think she has many natural remedies. along with modern medicine. She is trying to build up his immunity to resist bacterial infections as he has had so many pneumonias and sepsis . we will see long term how it goes. She is a new Lung Dr since Jan this year. She is working along with an Infectious Disease Dr in same group to get my hubby well enough to function daily. I sincerly hope you can find someone to assist you too.

I have been taking NAC for years- my Dr added acetylcysteine20mg to my nebulizer prescription. I have had good results with loosening up mucus following nebulizing.

I added Mullein tincture, but it resulted in coughing up small amounts of blood. Anyone else have this experience?

Diagnosed 3 - 4 years ago with MAC. Using nebulizer with Albuterol and 7% Saline via nebulizer - did okay but had no luck bringing up mucus with Aerobicka. Added Mullein Extract - a dropper full each morning in cool water. Sleeping much better but still wear out early in the day. Checked the difference between Mullein Tincture and Extract - Tincture has alcohol in it but Extract does not. Oh, and I am also using the Aeroflo vest twice a day. I will be 90 in November.
