NAC and vit C

Is it true that NAC should be taken together with vit C?

@lilianna Based on your question, you must have read this somewhere - can you please tell me where you found it?
Both supplements are antioxidants, and some 20 years ago some studies were done around using them together for healing, but I haven't had time to look at the current research.
Maybe someone else has some insight? Linda (@becleartoday) - is this possibly part of the current glutathione research trials?

The current ARINA-1 clinical trial involves a proprietary solution that includes acsorbic acid, glutathione, hypertonic saline, and buffering agent.

@becleartoday do you know when the clinical trial for ARINA-1 is scheduled to be complete? Perhaps unrealistically, I am holding out some hope for this non-antibiotic non-immune reducing treatment.

There still needs to be a phase 3 study. I would say probably 2025–2026.

I believe the study is still going on. Over the past few months, I submitted my most recent CT scan and medical info for the study. I just received a response from the research assistant to Dr. Daley of NJH informing me I was rejected due to having an "active infection." I asked for details and am waiting more clarification. I am guessing he is referencing my MAC. The study sounds excellent and I hope the it will yield the development of an approved non-antibiotic treatment for BE to reduce inflammation. Fingers crossed!

Arlo: if accepted to the trial were you planning to travel for it? My understanding is you need to be in person three times. The study reimburses for travel expenses but it’s a bit of a burden if you have to get on a plane. Maybe it would be worth it?

Hi Scoop! Yes, I was prepared to travel for a good cause. I was told the study would pick up all ("or most") of the expenses. You are correct, participants must be at the study site (there are several but Denver is the closest to me) about 3 or 4 times in person. The rest would be via telehealth. I thought the study was worth doing since it involved a no antibiotics or drugs. I am all for a natural remedy! As you know, BE is irreversible but, if they can find something natural to ease the burden of this illness, that would be a dream come true.

There is also brensocatib phase 3 going on and should be available by fall of 2024. It is supposed to help with inflammation and fewer exacerbations.

I spoke with my pulmonogist about partipating in the trial and she gave me the okay to do so. When she researched she found that it is in early stages. Apparently right now they are just testing tolerability of the treatment and how many people stick with it. Anecdotally, the research person said they had been having 'really good results' in their trial. May be awhile though before we see that in practice. I am still on the fence about doing it as I would have to be off of hypertonic saline for 56 days. I feel that's the thing that keeps me healthy.
