MYBACKHUBy

I have osteoporosis, scoliosis, and kyphosis. Physician’s assistant in neurosurgery told me I am not a good candidate for surgery because of the osteoporosis. She gave me a handout that directed me to the National Scoliosis Clinic. That’s where I found MyBackHub. I am supposed to scan in x-rays & MRIs etc. of my spine and get an individualized program of exercises back from them. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this program? Is it as great as it is advertised to be? And does it turn out to be expensive?

queenmab, hadn't heard of MyBackHub until your post (thanks). I think they launched 11/25 and sell the service to clinics, but I'd like to try it. There may be a monthly charge for patients whose clinics have joined the service.
AI looks at your labs and determines the best exercises with the weakness in your individual spine. They are out of the office until tomorrow.

This was an interesting article. I am a retired nurse, and have not heard about it. I have some osteoporosis, and I do my own exercises, and it sounds interesting, they would look at X-rays and MRI to evaluate exercises that would help our conditions. I would like to know more about the program and the costs involved. Thank you.

I had a zoom meeting with a man from My Back Hub today. The program sounds very interesting. He said x-rays & any equipment i.e. bands or balls is included in the cost. The cost is $4000 for the 6-month course. The website says it's covered by insurance but the man I spoke with said that is not covered. I felt pressured to sign up on the spot. Even though my back is fused from T2-L5 he assured me that they could help me without looking at my x-rays or doctor notes. That makes me think that they are a little bit shady.

I'd be very wary of anyone even touching my back or telling me what exercises to do in a situation like this. If your back is fragile, this could cause more damage. Can your physician order physical therapy for you? I'm a little leary of having AI identify the source of my pain, and certainly do not want an AI companion.....

My PT gave me core strengthening exercises as well as thigh/leg strengthening exercises. She also specifically told me what NOT to do, which I found extremely helpful.

@gigilapoisson Dr of PT Lisa Moore on Brick House Bones also shows what not to do, along with alternatives in the linked video below. She also shows a research paper that supports some of the advice. I would be curious to know how this aligns with what you PT told you.

I have done some yoga for most of my life, and giving up forward folds and side bends is not settling in with me. But I keep this video in mind.
