My pulmonologist

Posted by leelou03 @leelou03, Mar 1 11:34pm

I have asthma and COPD, chronic cough my pulmonologist doesn't seem to help me with any of this. My shortness of breath,he keeps wanting to blame my GERD. My CT scan said minimal interstitial disease and 2 small cysts. I tell him I have not felt good, my cough is increasing, he doesn't even look at me when I'm talking. There's a group of pulmonary doctors, but they are together and I don't know if I could go to any of them.
I sure don't know what to do

Hello, sorry you are going through this. Does your insurance offer you another Dr. outside the area. Might be worth traveling to another city to get a second opinion. What about your family Dr., what does he or she say about this. Also make an appt. with a gastro Dr. if you haven't already. Best of luck.

I went to Mayo in Rochester when doctors here locally wanted to operate on my lungs for two failed procedures to deal with pleural effusion and lung collapse after pneumonia. Hospitalization went from 3-4 days promised to 19. I caught a mysterious infection along with hospital pneumonia while at the hospital. I dealt with an arrogant hospitalist doctor. I had walked in the front door of the hospital, but after they got finished pumping me full of four different antibiotics causing liver damage, I couldn’t even walk. I went to Mayo and a wonderful pulmonologist there, named Cassandra Braun, told me my body just needed to heal. No surgery needed. She was right. I would highly recommend her.
I am sorry for what you have gone through and wish you well.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having these issues. If you want to stay with the same office, just tell them you want to see a different doctor. It is within your patient rights to see another doctor. My regular pulmonologist often consulted with another pulmonologist on my case and they told me I needed to fight for my rights.

You are correct in being concerned about seeing 'another doctor' who is in the same group!
I agree with bbeers and Linda M. Getting outside that area is important. I'd try the Mayo Clinic!
All the best to you!

I’m so sorry that you are having to deal with that. It’s bad enough when you’re sick and then, you can’t get help. I went through that too, but ended up going to a teaching hospital near me and I can’t believe the difference. Finally I’m getting the car I need but it’s taking a long time because it’s hard to get appointments and I’m getting a late start. I hope that you will find the doctors that will help you.

I'm glad things worked out for you. I pray you continue getting the help you need.
Thank you

My Pulmonologist seemed determined to let me die. It wasn't until I went to Mayo that I got properly diagnosed and on track with the right meds!

I am so glad you got help. I will be changing pulmonologist, if they let me change to one of the groups other doctors. I'll find out.
I don't see how doctors can get away with some of the things they do.
Again, Thank you for the comment and I'm glad you are better

I just made an appointment for another gastroenterologist online. Hopefully I will get a call tomorrow. Next is calling another pulmonologist.

Thank you for the encouragement
