Did you have a well known surgeon?

I'm sorry to hear about all of your ear struggles you have had as well šŸ™

My surgeon is at UIHC in Iowa and was highly recommended.
I just have an unusual case. I’m sorry the problems you are having with your ears as well!

Dude, you know, when I hear my own voice, it sounds like a broken speaker a little cracked and somehow disjointed. No one else is saying anything, but it doesn't sound right to my ears. I thought maybe there was a problem with the phone's speaker, so I slowly cleaned the speaker a little even looked at some settings if Fix My Speaker was a little better. But it doesn't seem right either. It could be a mistake in my head but sometimes it makes me very uncomfortable.

I had vocal cord therapy with a speech therapist for bad hoarseness in my voice. It involved "straw phonation", which was blowing into a straw in water. It really helped, but I need to keep up doing my therapy or the hoarse and squeaky sounds in my voice will return. My family doctor referred me to the speech therapist. Of course I don't know whether your problem is the same as mine. I hope you get it solved.

I have a normal audiogram (no hearing loss below (15 DB HL). My distorted hearing occured after a doctor didn't give me a new antibiotic while I had a bacterial infection in my sinuses that spread to both middle ears.
I have seen probally 8 ENTs and 5 Nuerotologists/Otologist. One diagnosed me with Semicircular Canal Dehiscence
Syndrome because of thin bone on my Lateral/ horizontal semicircular canal from demineralization from the bacteria eating away at it. The John's Hopkins Otologists Disagrees. But nobody is infallible and all doctors have been failing me. Why is my audiogram "normal" and I have tinnitus and a distorted voice since my sinus amd ear infection from almost 4 years ago. All doctors that specialize in the ear seem to be bad at their jobs... I went from being happy and loving life to miserable and debilitated... I can't imagine a happy life when my voice sounds distorted when I speak. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY EARS ;( I feel like most doctors ONLY care about lining their pocket books. Of course they will help you if it's something easy to diagnose like an ongoing ear infection, step throat.

I just want to get better I haven't been happy for 4 years and even worse I'm severely depressed and debilitated... humans are social beings... I hear a mix of very quick screech noises & high pitched static that happens simultaneously as I speak. My own voice makes me cringe, makes it so im hesitant to speak or don't want to speak at all. I sometimes get the feeling of nails on a chalkboard from my own voice. And obviously my voice sounds the same to other people because the problem is in my inner or middle ear.

I have only recently asked my GP for help with problems with the sound of my own voice in my left ear (or side). I have had tinnitus for many years and concurrent with the problem with hearing my own voice, the tinnitus on the left is much worse. I was given hearing aids to help cope with the tinnitus but I generally don't use them. I also have balance problems when I bend my head or lean forward.

I will do some research on SDSC.

I have been referred to an ENT service outside the NHS but they have never encountered the symptoms I am describing to them. I will share this information with them and hopefully this will help me. If I have any information about my experience, I will share it here.
